What Mainstream Medicine says
:
STRESS AFFECTS
ERECTIONS

Erectile dysfunction (ED, "male impotence ") is defined as the inability to maintain an erection
to achieve sexual
intercourse.
The most common type of erectile dysfunction is poor blood circulation which cam arise from
ageing or an underlying health problem such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure or
diabetes.
The second most common cause is due to psychological factors such as stress, anxiety and
depression, which can affect the stimulation necessary to maintain an erection. This is often the problem for
younger
men.
When men reach andropause, or the male equivalent of menopause, the reduction in testosterone
levels affects their sex drive and ability to achieve
erections.
Erection problems can also be due to detective nerves to the
penis, which may be damaged following surgery to the pelvis or prostate, or the result of injury to the
spinal
cord.
A rare cause of an erection problem occurs when the veins in the
penis leak so that a strong blood flow cannot be
maintained.
Doctors do not see it as abnormal if a man masturbates more than
his peers as there are no physical side effects to masturbation, except that he may tire himself
out.
Treating erectile dysfunction involves treating te
underlying condition : Some studies has shown that Horny Goat weed works like Viagra, by blocking an enzyme
called PDE-5, which has a role in reducing the level of a chemical in the penis which causes blood vessels to
dilate and for erections to
occur.
Please be warned that
Viagra and Horny Goat Weed MUST BE AVOIDED
in patients who are taking nitrates for their heart conditions, as they risk causing
their blood pressure to drop so low that it becomes
dangerous.
We would like to emphasize that the effects of taking horny goat weed have not been validated in
properly conducted trials and so it is not a recommended treatment just
yet.
Men who have had erectile dysfunction beyond a month,
or are troubled by declining sexual function, should seek medical
consultation.
To avoid developing erectile dysfunction, men should
not smoke, drink excessively or be overweight. They should also aim to reduce their stress levels and be
happy
!
